A SLICE OF PARADISE / Vol. 1

SIDEWINDER (Radio Magnetic)

"Nice comp - bonker packaging, but im really glad its recycled paper. Who's this Nick Matthews character - he's got immaculate taste? But seriously, nice range of music, lets hope that its a hit."

QUANTIC

“Passionate location...passionate music.”

KRAAK & SMAAK

“Really like it, especially the packaging is extraordinary beautiful, brings it onto a whole new level. People should do this more often... Compilers have nicely avoided the cliché paths of loungy music that exists today; each cd makes its own mark. Nice touch by using Terry Callier - just waiting to be sampled! Finally the sun came through in Holland this summer!”

TIM SCOTT - Samurai.fm

“Wow... a 5 CD compilation! And the packaging is awesome... not exactly user-friendly, but awesome nonetheless! There are some absolutely brilliant tracks on here from Alison Crockett to Paul Murphy to Season – all tunes I’ve been hammering since they came out. But on the whole, I was a little bit disappointed with the overall effect of the compilation. Maybe the tracklist built up my expectation too much. To be honest, I think 5 CDs was a bit ambitious – I think I’d struggle to fill 5 CDs with all killer and no filler! For me, there’s an amazing 2 or 3 CD compilation here, but there are a number of nondescript tracks that let the quality down a bit. I wasn’t really feeling the dubbed out first cd and I was a bit disappointed with Ben Mono’s disc too, given how I’ve been into his music recently. The middle three discs contain my favourites, including a few I hadn’t come across before, like the Les Voleurs track with Yungun on disc 4. Disc 3, Gav Smith’s, is probably my pick of the bunch because of the Jazzanova/Paul Murphy/Bossa Electrica triplet, as well as including the deep ‘Spirit of Drums’ track. Overall I’d say this is an impressively packaged compilation with some top quality music on it, but is let down slightly by the inclusion of some fairly average tracks. That said, at least a couple of the CDs will be in the car for quite some time, I can safely predict.

PADDY FREEFORM (Universal Vibes - Samurai.fm)

"Amazing package, lots of strong tracks mixed togetehr well. Hours of home listening and some tracks to play out too."

NIKKI LUCAS

"Really like Gav Smith. Will play his mix on my future fusion show."

DOMU

"A lovely summery compilation, for the car or beach on the headphones or Bar. It plays very well throughout and is positive and well put together. The packaging has added Right On! points for its recycled ness which cant be bad. Well done chaps! 8/10. Only criticsism is tracklisting a little old now, but big comps take time i know."

SIMON HARRSION (Basic Soul Radio)

"Beautiful packaging and a fine selection of tracks. Perfect DJ set on one box."

PHAT PHIL COOPER (Various - Liverpool)

"Really enjoying the CD."
